PEORIA HEIGHTS – Teachers across Central Illinois are giving a toast to education and excellence.
The PNC Foundation and Ruby K. Worner charitable trust recognized 37 teachers. The group of teachers gathered for a luncheon at the Country Club of Peoria. Teachers say the money will help pay for labs and classroom projects.
“This will allow us to do hands on, we’ll, the students will analyze and evaluate data at a crime scene, and they’ll do forensic labs, when you make, when you connect school with the outside world, it really makes them pay attention and learn,” said Catherine Mckenzie, Teacher at Manuel Academy.
Over the last 28 years, the PNC Foundation awarded more than 800 grants for academic purposes. The total of those grants over the years is $480,000.
