On Tuesday, October 30, 2018, the Community Foundation of Central Illinois hosted a reception to recognize the recipients of more than $157,000 awarded from the Community Needs and the Local Jobs fund grant programs. Through the generous contributions of our fundholders, the Community Foundation is able to support many deserving nonprofit organizations in the central Illinois community through our grantmaking processes.
More than 35 nonprofit executives and representatives along with Community Foundation fundholders, board members, volunteers and staff gathered to celebrate the occasion.
For nearly 32 years, the Community Foundation has remained committed to our mission of “connecting people who care with causes that matter.” The Community Needs grants support programs that align with the principles and elements of the Community Foundation and allows nonprofit agencies to apply for up to $15,000 in funding. The Local Jobs Fund grants, which awarded $2,500 in funding this cycle, is designed to support projects that have a direct linkage to breaking the cycle of poverty by equipping people with the skills to earn significantly more than minimum wage.
Community Foundation Director of Grants and Community Initiatives, Sarah Fletcher, believes that “through grantmaking, CFCI is able to ensure a lasting legacy for our funders who have made a long-term commitment to the positive growth and stability of our community here in central Illinois.”
