Mark Roberts of Morton was installed as Rotary International district governor for 2019-2020 during a ceremony held at Dozer Park in Peoria on Saturday, June 29, 2019.

Roberts, a member of the Rotary Club of Peoria North since 2001, will serve Rotary District 6460, which consists of 48 clubs and 2200 Rotarians throughout Illinois. Cities within the district include Springfield, Quincy, Peoria, Jacksonville, Edwardsville and many surrounding communities. As district governor, Roberts will be responsible for providing leadership, motivation and guidance to District 6460’s Rotary clubs under the general supervision of the Rotary International Board of Directors.

“I’m honored to serve as district governor for the next year and to help strengthen Rotary’s commitment to the communities we call home,” Roberts said. “For more than 110 years, Rotary has been dedicated to service above self throughout the world by promoting peace, fighting disease, providing clean water, helping mothers and children in need, supporting education and growing local economies.”

Roberts is a recipient of the Ed Peterka Leader Bell Award, recognizing outstanding leadership within Rotary District 6460, the District Governor’s Citation for Meritorious Service for his work on activities related to The Rotary Foundation, and the Paul Harris Fellow Award from the Rotary Club of Peoria North.  Along with his wife Pam, he is a Bequest Society member and a Major Donor of The Rotary Foundation.

Professionally, Roberts serves as CEO for the Community Foundation of Central Illinois (CFCI). Under his leadership, CFCI’s permanent charitable endowment has grown to over $54 million.  Professional honors include the 2009 Exemplary Alumni Award for Community Service from the Department of Educational Leadership and Human Development at Bradley University, and the Ian T. Sturrock Outstanding Fundraising Executive award from the Association of Fundraising Professionals Central Illinois Chapter.

Mark Roberts has started a year-long term as Rotary International district governor for the local District 6460, which consists of 48 Rotary clubs from Peoria to the Metro East.  The Morton resident and CEO of the Community Foundation of Central Illinois will provide leadership, motivation and guidance to clubs within the district during his term.
